The Montepulciano grape originates in central Italy where it is the second most grown variety, after Sangiovese. Grape growers, like Dr. Vijay Reddy in the Texas High Plains, brought the grape to Texas in 2006, where it has become a favorite due to its late bud break, thick skin and consistency. I might also add that it makes a very fine wine.
Our 2019 Montepulciano was aged in French oak barrels for 18 months, producing a well-balanced, medium-bodied wine with soft to medium tannins. Enjoy this wine with rich, savory meats (including pork or lamb) as well as cheesy pasta dishes and pizza.
